University of Wageningen (Netherlands) and University of Dschang (Cameroon) are studying a new method of traceability based on the properties of the wood itself, in order to prove the legality and the origin of the wood and to fight against the illegal exploitation of the tropical forests. These new technologies are based on the traceability of tropical timber from genetic and chemical markers as part of a project called TIMTRACE.
